Noida: Twisha Sharma's father Navnidhi Sharma on Friday stated that the first step towards justice has been taken in the case of her daughter's suspicious death. This comes as several important developments took place in the case, starting with the order of a CBI probe, the instruction for a second post-mortem of Twisha, and the withdrawal of the bail plea of accused Samarth Singh.

“This is just a beginning. We have taken the first step towards justice…This is the right path now,” Navnidhi Sharma said, adding, “We believe we will get the clear picture.”

'I Told Her I'll Be With Her Forever'

The grieving father also recalled that he had promised his daughter that he will be with her forever. He noted that she had told him before her death that she was under pressure. “She told me that she wants to come back. I told her to take a decision and I will be with you forever,” he said.

Navnidhi Sharma added, “She was dying there, she was not well with them at all.”

‘They Played Condolences Game Over Her Dead Body’

Navnidhi Sharma, who had earlier accused Twisha Sharma's mother-in-law of “judicial cover-up”, said, “The family is a huge influential family.”

He noted that if they were not guilty of anything they would have called the police or ambulance immediatedly after finding Twisha hanging. “It is your duty if you are not a culprit, you would call the police, ambulance. But you called for condolences…For two hours they were playing condolences game. They were called for condolences over my daughter's dead body.”

Mother-In-Law Made Calls To Influential People After Twisha's Death

According to Twisha's family, her mother-in-law Giri Bala Singh made over 40 phone calls to judges, ministry-linked individuals and influential figures shortly after Twisha’s death in Bhopal. Twisha’s father released a list of purported mobile numbers contacted by Giri Bala.

Calls logs accessed by Republic TV revealed that she allegedly dialled a district judge nine times in one day, and also contacted CCTV operators and an IPS officer in the Lokayukta.

She also called her son, Samarth Singh, three times after he fled.

Advocate Ankur Pandey said, “Giri Bala called so many influential people after Twisha’s death, but did not make a single call to the victim's family.”

Twisha's family has alleged that her connections with influential people may have impacted the course of the investigation.

HC Orders Second Post-Mortem

The Jabalpur High Court on Friday ordered a second post-mortem, directing that a specialised team constituted by the Director of AIIMS Delhi conduct the procedure in Bhopal. Justice Avnindra Kumar Singh passed the order after serious concerns were raised regarding the first autopsy report, forensic inconsistencies and gaps in the investigation.

The court directed that Twisha’s body be preserved at minus 80 degrees Celsius till the second autopsy is conducted. Videography of the entire procedure has also been mandated and will form part of the final report.

CBI To Investigate Case

Following the Madhya Pradesh government's nod, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has taken over the investigation into the mysterious death case. The CBI will re-register an FIR regarding dowry death and will proceed to take the investigation forward.

It will also constitute a Special Investigation Team (SIT) shortly, comprising a team of officers drawn from its Delhi and Madhya Pradesh units.

The SIT will operate under the leadership of a CBI DIG.
